A 100% Water Mobile Phase HPLC for Detecting Imidacloprid and Its Metabolite 6-chloronicotinic Acid

Using an isocratic 100 percent water mobile phase, this paper describes a safe HPLC technique for detecting imidacloprid (ICP) and its metabolite, 6-chloronicotinic acid (6CA). Using a Daisopak® SP-200-3-C1-P with water as the mobile phase and a photodiode-array detector, chromatographic separations were performed. The overall run time was approximately 6 minutes. The suitability of the method met all of the international approval requirements. The detection limits for ICP and 6CA were 0.018 g/ml and 0.005 g/ml, respectively. This paper describes isocratic 100 percent water mobile phase HPLC conditions to detect ICP and 6CA as the first examination issue in the development of an international harmonised system for residue monitoring of ICP and 6CA. A safe HPLC method for simultaneously detecting ICP and 6CA has been developed, and it could be used to quantify animal-derived foods.
