Behavioural Factors Affecting the Adoption of Sustainable Housing Practices: Indian Context

Sustainable Development is a concept of development that involves causing as little harm to society, the environment, and other distant variables as possible as a result of so-called “development.” According to literature research, the Indian construction industry’s focus on sustainable development is mostly on energy efficiency and minimising CO2 emissions, with less emphasis on the economic element and social considerations. Energy-saving, on the other hand, Buildings are substantially more expensive than traditional buildings, demonstrating the widely held belief that a structure that is already expensive would become even more expensive with the introduction of energy-saving fixtures to the market. In India, the problem of housing affordability has become increasingly acute, indicating that housing supply is falling short of demand. The research topic demonstrates that behavioural adoption reconciliations can be used to overcome dispense-related concerns. As a result, understanding the factors that influence sustainable housing allows for a more comprehensive solution to challenges.
