Linguistic Analysis of Northern Irish Court Judgments (2014-2020)

In legal systems, court judgments are important court records. The aim of this analysis is to expand on a previous study [1], which looked at court documents (judgments) released in Northern Ireland between 2014 and 2020. Van Dijk’s macrostructural analysis is the approach used to analyse these court decisions. We will summarise the most notable semantic features that structure an internal corpus of 40 digital court judgments from Northern Ireland as a result of this study in order to simplify them for experts from various academic fields.
