Promising Antimicrobial Activities of Malpighiaceae Family and Its Outcome for Oral Cavity Infectious Diseases

March 4, 2021 Pharmaceutical 0

Current medical therapies for oral infectious diseases are limited by the specificity and tolerance of pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and viruses, necessitating the production of novel substances. Plants have long been a source of active chemical agents; however, in the case of Malpighiaceae, a flowering plant family with secondary metabolites that have shown a range of pharmacological effects with promising results, further research is still needed. Because of the importance of oral infections to global human health and their effect on the complications of patients with some chronic conditions, the purpose of this contribution is to provide an overview of the extracts and active constituents isolated from Malpighiaceae species, with a focus on their antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activities in recent years. Similarly, we study the possible production of dosage forms for Malpighiaceae-derived potential products.
