A Novel Approach to Improve the Quasi-Yagi Antenna Perfomances by Using an Ends-Fed Dipole Driver

Using the so-called ends-fed dipole radiator, we describe a novel way for increasing the performance of quasi-Yagi antennas. To showcase this principle, a cylindrical prototype running at 790 MHz is created and tested. Because the space around the radiating arms is devoid of any conductors, the suggested radiator is an excellent option for producing high polarisation purity radiation. The measured findings suggest that a driver like this can reduce the effective area by up to 20% while boosting the front-to-back ratio by up to 17 dB without sacrificing bandwidth.
