Acoustic Method of Colorado Beetle Elimination: Experimental Results

August 6, 2022 Physical Science 0

This article explores the distinctive effects of acoustic waves on living things. The objectives of the research are mechanical aspects of living beings. Human organs are known to have crucial resonance frequencies between 0.5 and 20 Hz. And only those who are in an acoustic environment with a frequency that is different from their resonance frequency may be protected from damaging acoustic waves on the human body. On the other hand, we may make advantage of the effect of acoustic fields on organisms that cause plant pest problems at a frequency that matches the resonance frequency of the pests’ bodies. The plant pest will thereafter be killed by the sonic field. Due to acoustic vibrations and vibratory oscillation, the Colorado beetle perished in the lab. The procedure and the device that will be used to carry it out were developed and are described below. Acoustic vibrations are used to manipulate the Colorado beetle’s body, simplifying the procedure and preventing toxicity.
