An Integration of Microgrid with Hybrid Renewable Enrgy System and Mitigation of Power Quality Issues

This chapter demonstrates a microgrid control strategy that integrates wind, photovoltaic (PV), and energy storage (ESS) systems using converters such as MI CUK or SEPIC. Renewable energy sources can produce an erratic output voltage, which will cause the machines to fail. As a result, an energy storage device (ESS) is used to reduce the unpredictability of output voltage. The control strategies and comparative analysis with various converters such as MI CUK and SEPIC converters are demonstrated in this chapter. Mechanical torque can be produced by a wind turbine, and this torque is supplied to PMSM. Mechanical energy is converted to electrical energy by the PMSM. The micro grid may be more stable if it has the option of being connected to the grid or running in island mode. In order to ensure that the micro grid’s infrastructure is not subjected to harmful levels of power quality phenomena that do not exist in the national energy grid, the power reliability of micro grids in island operation must be investigated. One of the power material phenomenon is total harmonic distortion (THD) and its individual harmonic components.
