Critical Studies on Design and Analysis of Honeycomb Reinforced Epoxy Glass Fibre Bumper

Bumpers are an important auxiliary component in terms of vehicle safety, static quality, and beauty. The goal of this research is to determine whether an automotive bumper is crashworthy in order to assure passenger safety. The ABS plastic bumper beam is analysed in the first phase with the basic bumper design, and the front part is modelled with the honeycomb structure of glass epoxy fibre in the second phase to compare deformation and energy absorbed during the impact. We can conclude from the performance analysis that the Epoxy glass fibre bumper material outperforms the competition and that the new bumper design is preferable to the current bumper design. By emphasising safety-enhancing features, this study aims to improve the design of a passenger car’s front bumper and propose a cost-effective option for front bumper material and design.
