November 18, 2020 Medicine and Medical Science 0

Objective: The objective of this present study is to measure, analyze and evaluate the therapeutic benefits of honey in the treatment of recurrent apthous ulcers. Materials and Methods: Sixty patients with mild oral ulcers received treatment for oral ulcers from the Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology. The topical application of honey or placebo treatment was conducted in a double-blinded clinical trial and a reduction in the size and length of full ulceration removal was noted.

Results: After 3 days of treatment with honey dressings, ulcers were greatly reduced in size, with some having full remission after another 3 days. In our research, effective use of honey as a topical treatment for decreasing healing time and pain remission was proven in recurrent apthous stomatitis. However, due to many drawbacks, only a poor inference can be drawn and further studies are warranted to prove its effectiveness on a boarder scale for therapeutic advantage.
