Detailed Study on the Effect of NeuroGen® Nerve Support Supplement on Pillar Pain after Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release
Pillar pain after carpal tunnel surgery is one of the most common complications and has an incidence of 7 percent – 61 percent. In a prospective study, 61 patients with clinically diagnosed and electromyographically validated carpal tunnel syndrome were enrolled to determine the efficacy of a pillar pain nerve supplement following carpal tunnel surgery. Both patients underwent endoscopic release from the carpal tunnel. As part of their perioperative care, 15 of the patients also took the nerve support supplement NeuroGen®. Compared with the placebo group, the supplement group displayed a substantially lower level of pillar pain (VAS) at initial follow-up (1.13 and 4.05 respectively). Compared to just 9 percent (4/46) of the control group at first follow-up, 46 percent (7/15) of the supplement group were absolutely free of pillar pain. Compared to 35 percent (16/46) of the control group, 53 percent (8/15) of the NeuroGen® group did not need any pain medicine. The NeuroGen® nerve supplement greatly improves discomfort after carpal tunnel surgery. This reduction in pain leads to less needed post-operative treatment and an earlier return to activity. The efficacy of the supplement on nerve regeneration after surgical decompression will be tested by further research.
