SARS-CoV-2, a zoonotic virus that has impacted millions of people globally and brought the globe to a halt, has caused chaos all over the world. Along with this deteriorating situation, no recognised medicines for the SARS-CoV-2 virus exist, while preventative medicine is still a possibility. Respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties are all common markers of infection. Pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, renal failure, and even death can occur in more severe cases. Phytochemicals aid in the regulation of proinflammatory and oxidative mediators such as nitric oxide synthase, tumour necrosis factor-, interleukin (IL) 1, IL-6, IL-8, cyclooxygenase 2, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), nuclear factor kappa B Relief from a cytokine storm is one result of this. For the preventative therapy of COVID-19, phytochemicals such as ascorbic acid, delphinidin, quercetin, ergosterol peroxide, punicalin, naringin, diosmin, hesperidin, emodin, and chrysin are important.
