Issues in the Conceptualization and Understanding of Intelligent Buildings

November 9, 2020 Science and Technology 0

By now, the fact of global warming must have been decided, while the occurrence of global warming has taken on unimaginable proportions in recent times. With the idea of Intelligent Buildings (IBs), the rapid development of Information Technology (IT) is now changing the way we construct and communicate with the built world, underlining its key characteristics. These IBs, however, make use of energy-demanding technologies, and fossil fuels are actually the world ‘s primary sources of energy; they can also irreparably harm the environment, exacerbating climate change. This paper aims to address several problems related to the conceptualization of IBs through a study of established literature, highlighting how they are analogous to other notional alternatives that have the same advantages. It also addresses the need to concentrate on less energy-intensive and management approaches to building design or occupancy as a way to reduce worldwide fossil fuel demand and therefore consumption.
