‘‘Paspanguwa’’; A Traditional Sri Lankan Herbal Drink
Medicinal plants are critical in the treatment of a variety of health issues, especially in developing countries. Traditional medicine has a long and illustrious history in Sri Lanka. Due to its numerous health benefits, ‘‘Paspanguwa” (PP) has become one of the most popular traditional herbal drinks in Sri Lanka. The primary ingredients used in the preparation of the PP are Coriandrum sativum, Coscinium fenestratum, Hedyotis corymbosa, Solanum xanthocarpum, and Zingiber officinale. We discussed the importance of PP in this chapter, with a focus on the added ingredients.
