Recent Advancement of Precision Large-Caliber Slot Cutting of Sheet Steel Using Single-Mode Fiber Laser Radiation

November 6, 2020 Physical Science Uncategorized 0

We present the findings of an experimental and theoretical investigation into the properties and characteristics of large-caliber precision slot cutting of low-carbon steel sheets up to 10 mm thick by 1 kW single-mode fibre laser radiation. Slots with calibres from 20 to 60 (in some cases, up to 100) and widths up to around 60 microns have been obtained using periodic-pulsed single-mode laser radiation and oxygen as the cutting gas. The cutting speed (50-100 mm / min) was calculated and the precision cutting efficiency (about 3 percent) and laser radiation transport efficiency in waveguide mode (about 25 percent) were estimated. In the lasergas cutting method , it is possible to achieve 150-250 μm large slotted holes in metal sheets using laser cutting configurations based on few-mode ytterbium-doped fibres and disc lasers working on a 1.07 μm wavelength at a power of up to 5 kW and an efficiency of about 30 percent (which mainly differs from gas lasers). The parameters of the morphology and roughness of the cut surface were determined. Variations in the hardness and phase structure of steel were examined in the usual direction of the slot wall. A laser oxygen precision slot cutting qualitative model with deep channelling is proposed.
