Rehabilitation of Lost Vertical Dimension Using Pankey Mann Schuyler Concept

August 3, 2022 Medical Science 0

In the management of badly worn dentition, it is usual practice to raise the occlusal vertical dimension in order to have adequate repair space. The impact of this divisive belief on the odonto-stomatognathic system has generated discussion. Regarding the perception of an increase in the occlusal vertical dimension, there are fundamental uncertainties and false beliefs currently held. Reconstructing a weakened dentition is stressful due to the widely differing opinions on choosing a suitable occlusal plan for a successful complete mouth rehabilitation. There are numerous schools of thought to follow for occlusal rehabilitation, the two most well-known of which are Hobo’s philosophy and Pankey Mann Schuyler’s philosophy. The Pankey Mann Schuyler idea offers a straightforward, step-by-step process to follow in whole mouth rehabilitation instances. The case of a 38-year-old male patient who reported of pain in his left TMJ region and showed significant attrition upon oral inspection is covered in this paper. He underwent complete mouth occlusal rehabilitation. The Pankey Mann Schuyler principle underpinned the therapy, which also included an occlusal analysis using the Broadrick flag.
