Risk Factors, Dietary and Clinical Profile of Patients with Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH): Acrosssectional Study

The term NASH was coined by Ludwig et al. NASH is a type of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis that includes steatosis, steatohepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and complications. The goal of this study is to look into the dietary, clinical, and other risk factors associated with NASH. Materials and Methods: The current study was conducted on 60 NASH patients over a six-month period in 2010 at the Department of Medicine, GMC, Jammu. A variety of NASH-related risk factors were examined in all NASH patients. A thorough clinical examination as well as a detailed history were performed. Results: Of the 60 patients, 28 (46.66%) were males and 32 (53.32%) were females. 85 percent of the patients were between the ages of 31 and 70. Conclusion: In our study, non-vegetarians made up 73.33 percent (44/60) of the patients, while asymptomatic people made up 26.6 percent (16/60). Right subcostal pain was the most common symptom (69.33 percent ). Obesity, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes mellitus were found to be significantly associated with NASH in this study.
