Simultaneous Determination of Ofloxacin and Tinidazole from Pharmaceutical Dosage Formulation by Two Spectrophotometric Methods
For the estimation of Ofloxacin and Tinidazole from combined tablet dosage form, two quick, sensitive, reliable, precise, rapid, and cost-effective methods were developed. The first method uses a simultaneous equation, while the second method uses Qanalysis (absorbance ratio method). In 0. 1N MethanolicHCI (20:80), ofloxacin and tinidazole have maximum absorbances of 300 nm and 275 nm, respectively. With a Regression Coefficient (R2) greater than 0.999, linearity was achieved in the concentration ranges of 1-20 g/ml for Ofloxacin and 3-60 g/ml for Tinidazole. The first method used simultaneous equations to calculate the concentration and amount of drug, while the second method used the ratio of absorbance at the isoabsorptive point (which was found to be 286 nm) and at the maximum concentration of one of the drugs to determine the concentration and amount of drug. The findings of the study have been statistically confirmed, followed by assay and recovery tests.
