June 2, 2021 Pharmaceutical 0

Scoparia dulcis is a tropical and subtropical annual erect herb that can be found in India, America, Brazil, the West Indies, and Myanmar. Diarrhea, stomach aches, kidney stones, kidney issues, and fever are all treated with the whole plant. Flavones, terpenes, and steroids abound in Scoparia dulcis. The purpose of this research is to look into the antioxidant properties of different Scoparia dulcis extracts. Scoparia dulcis Linn is a member of the Scrophulariaceae family and is thought to have therapeutic effects.

Materials and Methods: This plant’s various extracts were obtained through a series of extractions with petroleum ether, chloroform, and ethanol. These extracts (PEESD, CESD, and EESD) were then subjected to phytochemical testing with a variety of chemical reagents. Various antioxidant screening methods such as measurement of total Phenolic compounds, reducing power, nitric oxide scavenging, and superoxide ion scavenging activity are used in an in-vitro antioxidant investigation. The extracts’ antioxidant activity was linked to their phytochemical composition in terms of polyphenol and carotenoid levels. In the diverse antioxidant systems, the chloroform extract was shown to be rich in phytochemical components and to have the maximum antioxidant activity. Conclusion: PEESD, CESD, and EESD exhibit high antioxidant activity, according to the findings. The presence of polyphenolic compounds may be responsible for the antioxidant potential.
